![]() Generally, people upload far less data than they download. So, every time you post a video on Instagram, play your favorite online video game, send an email, click a link or make a Google search, your Internet-connected device needs to send data from your computer to a server to register your action. Downloading files Your upload speed is a measure of how fast data travels from your device to the Internet.Whether you pull up Netflix and binge the latest TV show or spend the day browsing social media platforms, download speed tells you how much data servers are capable of sending your Internet-connected device each second.Įxamples of actions that use download speed include: Your download speed is a measure of how fast data travels from the Internet to your device. And most Internet speed tests measure both your download speed and upload speed. Almost every digital interaction requires you to both download and upload data. When you use the Internet, data flows in two directions. So, high speeds on online tests may not translate into fast performance if you use many different devices and programs. Alternatively, you may check emails while running five work applications. For example, you may play a competitive online game while streaming Netflix on your smart TV. In practice, most people use multiple programs or perform multiple activities simultaneously. While you may need only a few Mbps to seamlessly use an email application, resource-intensive tasks like streaming 4K video content require a significant amount of data transfer. The higher the Mbps, the faster your Internet connection runs. Typically, this speed is measured in megabits per second, or Mbps. But is your Internet connection fast and reliable? Internet speed, known as bandwidth, is a measure of how fast your Internet connection can transfer data packets each second. You use the Internet to connect to friends and family, accomplish work tasks, learn about the world around you and relax. Your Internet connection is a crucial part of your everyday life.

![]() ![]() The Danger Zone is walled off by wrecked vehicles, either due to accidents or by some conscious effort to contain the living dead. ![]() The Danger Zone's distinct characteristic are the high concentration of zombies as well as a heightened ferocity. Roughly a half of Danforth (entirety of the inner city and a few areas outside the beltway) are designated Danger Zones (colored red on the map). Outside the beltway lies the city's industrial areas, ports and residential areas. The map of Danforth consists of the "inner city" which mostly consists of high-rise buildings and skyscrapers, encircled by an elevated highway called the Danforth Beltway. The city also hosts a small amount of medical and pharmaceutical companies in the city, including the Human Future Trust fund, based in Danforth, or at least operating within the cities confines. The city also appears to have been experiencing growth in the 2000's, since there are numerous building sites of small and large office buildings, and housing estates, including a large port cargo capacity, inferring trade was certainly plentiful, and with a bustling motor trade industry in the city, including numerous billboards displaying medical supplies, clothing and radio stations, hosted by a number of radio channels throughout the city. Most of the buildings are older designs, with others being more modern constructions, including a number of modernized houses around the city. The city likely experienced expansion in the early 1920's, into the late 1970's with construction of newer, high rise office blocks. The city was most likely built up from a small town or settlement of some description, since there are a few smaller buildings spread around the city, including a few old mud roads. There’s a school to match your SAT score. What can you gather from this? Three things: Some examples include Arkansas State University, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Regis University and Illinois State. There are also many quality private schools in this range, including TCU and Syracuse.ġ100-1200: Broad range of schools, including flagship state universities like the University of Missouri and Ole Miss and quality second-tier state universities like the University of Illinois-Chicago and UC-Riverside.īelow 1100: There are actually quite a few universities in this category, including tons of non-flagship state universities and a lot of small private colleges. Since good SAT scores are determined by target universities, let’s look at what types of colleges have average SAT scores in various ranges:ġ500+: The best universities in the world, including Harvard, Stanford, Cal Tech, MIT and Princeton.ġ400-1500: Almost-Ivies, like UC-Berkeley, University of Michigan, University of Virginia, UCLA and Notre Dame.ġ300-1400: Tons of good private and public universities, including the University of Texas at Austin, University of Florida, George Washington University and Pepperdine.ġ200-1300: This is probably the most common range for quality state universities, including the University of Colorado, University of Arizona and Texas A&M. Many students would be thrilled to have a 1200, but others might feel devastated.īottom line: The SAT score you need is determined by the college you want to attend. However, a 1200 might be a great score if you want to go to a lot of other pretty good schools. If you want to go to a top-tier state university like the University of Texas-Austin, a 1200 is probably a bad score. Instead, we can say this: A bad SAT score is one that is weaker than your GPA. Thus, we can’t really talk about bad scores without having the context of GPA. Similarly, a student with a great GPA but a poor test performance isn’t super competitive at a lot of really competitive universities. A student with a 1530 but a bad GPA is probably an outsider at most Ivy League schools. For most students, their college prospects depend largely on two things:īoth of these factors are absolutely huge, and at competitive colleges, both need to be strong. Unfortunately, this question is not an easy one to answer. That gives us a starting point to understand what counts as a good SAT score. Increasingly, though, top-tier state universities are above this mark. This kind of score will make most students competitive at a lot of quality flagship state universities and many private schools. If you’re sitting at a 1230, you’re better off than three out of four students, so even if it isn't a 1530, it’s still pretty good. This score would make most students competitive at a lot of great universities.Īsk a lot of people what a good score is, and they’re likely to give an answer that falls somewhere around this mark. 150 points is a ton, and it differentiates just 9% of test takers. This is still an extremely high score (better than 90% of students). ![]() Coincidentally (or maybe not?), this also corresponds roughly to the average score of accepted students at most Ivy League colleges. The 99th percentile used to be closer to 1500, but this elite cutoff has crept up over the last several years. A good place to start is a few key score percentiles from our chart above:ġ520! That’s crazy high. But what’s a good score? What’s a bad one? What kind of score will make you cry? Those are much tougher questions to answer. ![]() The average Math score is 528, and the average Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score is 531. Even though there are four sections that students take on the test, these sections combine to produce just two scored sections, Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. Scores range from 400 to 1600, and the average SAT score in 2020 is 1059. To combat the rougue use of fonts like Comic Sans or Papyrus in your church, have a style guide for what fonts are appropriate to use where. That might have worked 15 years ago, but in 2013, feeling churchy “Papyrus style” communicates you’re stuck in the past. But now I think many non-experienced designers use it because it feels churchy. Maybe churches were drawn to the font because it made them feel like going back to biblical times. ![]() That ranges from Mediterranean restaurants to churches. Designed as font to mimic calligraphy on old parchment a paper, this font became a go to for anyone looking to make something look old. ![]() Much like Comic Sans, this font has made the “do not use” list because of its misuse as well. Our second font foe, Papyrus, carries a similar disdain. There are so many fonts available it might be better to look at something else.įont lesson #2: Understand certain fonts carry a stigma. Because so much is written about the disdain for this font, there will be some people that look at it and make a judgment. Parents.įont lesson #1: Use fonts that are appropriate for the age of your audience.Įven if Comic Sans is age appropriate for a project you’re doing, you still have to ask if it’s the right font to use. But remember who’s actually reading those letters you send home from Sunday school. I’ll give Comic Sans a bit of a pass for things directly used by children. Could you really take us seriously if that was how it always looked? I took a plug-in and turned Church Juice completely Comic Sans. The same is true if you’re using a child’s font to promote adult parts of your church. Even today, I get emails from workplace adults that use Comic Sans and it’s hard for me to take them seriously. Yet in a word processing world where people could choose something other than Times New Roman or Arial, Comic Sans started showing up in grown-up places that were supposed to be professional. It was meant to be childish and informal. Microsoft commissioned the font in the mid-90s to mimic a comic book font. While I hold some ill-will toward these fonts, it has less to do with what they actually look like and more to do with how their being misused.įor our font enemy Comic Sans, the biggest issues comes when it’s used for anything other than children’s ministry. And in the church world, these two fonts find their way into far too many publications. There are two fonts in the design world that are equally despised: Comic Sans and Papyrus. CBI sources cited a 2016 Supreme Court judgment in an unrelated case that said private bank officers were also public servants as they handled public money. The CBI registered its FIR on the basis of a letter from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last year that pointed out alleged irregularities in the loan transaction by the private sector ICICI Bank, sources said. The Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party also spoke out in support of NDTV. Power to ask questions & demand answers is the greatest gift of Democracy #RightToDissent,” the Congress party tweeted. “Dissent can never be silenced through intimidation. The Opposition too rallied behind NDTV and condemned the raids. Newspapers, television organisations, and the rest of the media must come out strongly in solidarity with the co-founders, Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, in the face of this anti-democratic action,” he told HT in London. Freedom of expression, which has come under pressure and numerous attacks in recent months, must be safeguarded at all costs. “NDTV has done very well by standing up spiritedly to these tactics and putting out evidence that the loan on which it supposedly defaulted was fully paid and that this was acknowledged by the private bank in a letter. It certainly looks like an attempt to send a nasty message to the rest of the news media that the BJP regime will not tolerate criticism. “The CBI raid, based on a false private complaint by a discredited individual on a matter going back nearly a decade, is a crude attempt to suppress Indian news television’s most independent and trusted voice, NDTV. N Ram, chairman and publisher of The Hindu group of newspapers, described the raids as “anti-democratic action”. Other leading journalists were more blunt in their criticism. “While the Editors Guild maintains that no individual or institution is above the law, the Guild condemns any attempt to muzzle the media and calls upon the CBI to follow the due process of law and ensure there is no interference in the free functioning of news operations.” ![]() “Entry of police and other agencies into the media offices is a serious matter,” the Guild said in a statement. The Editors Guild of India expressed “deep concern” over the raids. “We will not succumb to these attempts to blatantly undermine democracy and free speech in India,” the news broadcaster said in a statement. Neither of the Roy couple was available for comment but NDTV called the raids “concerted harassment… based on the same old endless false accusations”. This year, India slipped three places to 136th in the World Press Freedom Index compiled by Reporters Without Borders, which highlighted concerns that Hindu nationalists were “trying to purge all manifestations of anti-national thought”. The raids come at a time when the opposition has accused the government of selectively targeting charities and media groups as part of a campaign to control free speech and dissent. “NDTV and ICICI entered into a criminal conspiracy to transfer ownership of a news company (NDTV) to a shell company, against banking rules, SEBI Act,” the CBI said in its first information report (FIR). The Roys moved out an equivalent amount from RRPR’s bank account, it alleged. Within a year, ICICI settled for foreclosure of the loan, agreeing to a part-waiver of interest that allegedly resulted in a loss of Rs 48 crores for the bank, the CBI’s formal investigations launched last week said. In 2008, ICICI Bank gave the private holding company a loan of Rs 366 crore on personal guarantees of the Roys who pledged their NDTV shares that were valued more than the prevailing price at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
